Together with Spinverse, Valmet launched an innovation competition for companies and teams in the area of improved safety and efficiency of future field services in the energy, pulp and paper industries.
Finding companies with innovative ideas that make future field services easier and safer for workers, with the goal of developing collaboration with Valmet to a long-term partnership.
Valmet is the leading global developer and supplier of process technologies, automation and services for the pulp, paper and energy industries. In 2018, Valmet wanted to co-develop for improved safety and efficiency of future field services in the energy, pulp and paper industries.
The winners were given the chance to pilot their solutions with Valmet in a real-life environment, and world-class expertise in the manufacturing industry. The goal was to find innovative ideas that make it possible to develop successful collaboration with Valmet into a long-term partnership.
How we reached the goals
Spinverse defined the project’s scope according to Valmet’s needs, which included pitching ideas and showcasing demos. Together we defined the focus area of the innovation competition and the value propositions for the potential partners.
The project management was tasked to Spinverse, along with communicating with participating companies. We organized workshops, opened the call and activated potential applicants. We also held coaching for the finalists and arranged the pitching session at the Demo day event.
In total, 62 excellent applications were received, evaluated and ranked. Applicants represented a wide range of industries and consisted of small firms, large corporations and university research teams. Nine finalist teams were chosen to present their ideas and solutions to a jury of Valmet experts. Four winner teams were chosen and they will continue collaboration with Valmet.
