Horizon 2020 SME instrument phase 1

The demand for deaf sign language interpreting is growing, but professional interpreters are few. In Europe, there is an average of 62 sign language users per sign language interpreter. Current human interpreting service models are expensive and limited in time and space, thus they do not meet the current users’ growing needs.

Signmark Productions has developed a “one-stop-shop” service platform for connecting sign language users with interpreters with a push of a button, from anywhere any time. The project aims at providing a new communication experience for all persons who are deaf or with hearing challenges, coupled with high quality free calls from deaf to deaf. The innovative business model will be commercially exploited via Chabla Oy.

How we reached the goals

Spinverse strongly supported Signmark all along the proposal process from proposal planning, writing, submitting as well as reporting at the end.

Key takeaways

Signmark can develop a mobile interpreting platform and validate the new business model.

The project named Defera aims at assessing the market and technical/economical viability as well as searching for partners and updating the business plan for further raising private investment.
