About the project
Global environmental situation creates an urgent need for more sustainable transportation fuels.
NewLiEP project was prepared for a consortium consisting of Terranol (DEN), SEKAB (SWE) and Kanteleen Voima (FIN). The consortium will further develop and optimise the fermentation concept for lignocellulosic ethanol production and demonstrate its feasibility in near-industrial scale. The project will prepare the concept for commercialisation on a licensing basis through involvement of a customer to implement the technology as a result of techno-economic validation.
Impact of the project:
Ethanol made from lignocellulosic biomass is suitable for substituting fossil fuels in transportation and has potential to reduce greenhouse gas emission by up to 80%, compared to fossil fuels.
