Excellence - 1.4 Ambition

Instructions

This chapter is used to compare yourself to what else is out there. It is where you show you have done your due dilligence. You should describe the advance your proposal would provide beyond the state-of-the-art.

Show how you are truly groundbreaking.

This is done by:

  1. Describe the current state-of-the-art. Refer to scientific research, other projects, recent breakthroughs, competitor technologies, etc. You must tell the reader what the current landscape is. Use references!
  2. Describe how your project will push the State-of-the-art beyond to what it is today.

You have to show that the work you propose to do, and the goal you are aiming at, is truly ambitious. Cover all the points you have made. Be thorough and give reasoning and backing to your statements. If you say you e.g. improve something by 10%, show where that comes from.

You should also include a description of the innovation potential the project has. This means listing and describing e.g. ground-breaking objectives, novel concepts and approaches, new products, services or business and organisational models. Show the project outcomes, and link them to the objectives in Section 1.1 and Exploitation activities in Section 2.2

If you have products or services already on the market that relate to the project and its results, tell that. It shows the progress made so far and establishes your credentials.

Also tell the results of any patent search carried out.
