Administrative Forms: Call Specific Questions

Instructions:

These questions differ for each call and may require you to give specific answers. These should be reviewed well before the proposal is submitted in order to make sure these are answered in sufficient detail.

One standard question is the participation to Pilot on Open Research Data in Horizon 2020. (http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/docs/h2020-funding-guide/cross-cutting-issues/open-access-dissemination_en.htm)

Under Horizon 2020, each beneficiary must ensure open access to all peer-reviewed scientific publications relating to its results and research data. The Open Research Data Pilot applies primarily to the data needed to validate the results presented in scientific publications.

Beneficiaries can freely choose between the most appropriate route towards open access for them:

  • Self-archiving (also referred to as 'green' open access)
  • Open access publishing (also referred to as 'gold' open access).
    • In the case of gold open access publishing, open access must be granted at the latest on the date of publication and you also have to deposit a copy in a repository.

Opting in:

Participating projects will be required to develop a Data Management Plan (DMP), in which they will specify what data will be open: detailing what data the project will generate, whether and how it will be exploited or made accessible for verification and re-use, and how it will be curated and preserved.

Costs associated with open access to research data, including the creation of the data management plan, can be claimed as eligible costs of any Horizon 2020 grant.

Opting out:

Applicants also have the possibility to opt out of this Pilot completely at any stage, before or after the grant signature. In this case, applicants must indicate a reason for this choice. It can be e.g.:

  • Project does not generate any data
  • To allow for protection of results through e.g. patenting
  • Incompatibility with privacy/data protection/confidentiality linked to security
  • Other legitimate reason
