"We got into European Commission's Horizon 2020 -program, allowing us to develop a new rotor sail model and delivering it to the Viking Line Grace -cruise ship. Without the help of Spinverse, we probably wouldn't have made it into the H2020-program."

Horizon 2020 SME instrument phase 2
The high level of cargo vessel emissions is a big global and EU-level challenge, especially older cargo vessels which still have a long life expectancy and which make up a large proportion of European waterborne transport.
Shipping companies are actively looking for solutions that reduce the fuel consumption of their vessels. Norsepower wind propulsion system, Norsepower Rotor Sail Solution, enhances the complete propulsion system of a vessel by using wind as an auxiliary propulsion measure.
How we reached the goals
Spinverse supported the client to apply for Horizon 2020 SME instrument phase 2 funding. We reviewed and commented on the proposal draft, and provide support in project negotiation phase.
Key takeaways
The project aims to implement a Norsepower Rotor Sail Solution in full scale on a RoPax vessel to boost the sales of the solution. Norsepower wants to acquire performance validation and type approval of the technology. The project will enable commercialisation and faster penetration to the market.
