Dr. Laura Koponen is the Managing Director of Spinverse Innovation Management Oy. Spinverse is the Nordic leader in preparing and coordinating multiparty R&D projects for the industry and applying public and private funding for these. Together with the team we have coordinated large scale innovation programs with a volume of over €1 B in the past 10 years.

Since joining Spinverse in 2008, Dr. Koponen has coordinated two large-scale Innovation Programmes: one for Tekes worth €200 M and one public-private partnership for the Finnish Metals and Engineering Competence Cluster worth €35 M. Secondly, she led the Spinverse Markets and Networks Business Unit, arranging large European Innovation Events with participants joining from over 60 countries. Furthermore, she headed and developed Spinverse marketing and sales strategy towards the industry.

In addition to her strong interest and understanding of Horizon 2020 funding, she actively updates her knowledge by discussing about emerging technologies and paths of growth with the top R&D investors in Europe.

Dr. Koponen has a Doctor of Science in Technology degree from Aalto University, where she previously worked as a researcher and project leader. For her Doctoral Thesis she developed a machine for controlling computers by thought. She has also been as a visiting scientist at the Oxford University, UK. During her pre-graduate time she has lived in both UK and Sweden. She communicates fluently in English, Finnish and Swedish.

Apart from sales, innovation, Horizon 2020, and mind-reading, she enjoys playing golf and exploring the forest on bikes with her sons.
