Juhani Luotola joined Spinverse in August 2016 as a Senior Consultant and Programme Director of SalWe (Strategic Center of Science Technology and Innovation in Health and Well-being) Personalized Diagnostics and Care Programme (GET IT DONE, 2014-2018).
The overall objective of SalWe is to enhance the use of personalized medicine, especially personalized diagnostics and treatments. The programme focuses on the efficient utilization of personal health records, patient records and genomic information including new technologies in point-of-care testing. The ICT solutions to be developed, including genetic and other laboratory data, support the effective use of patient data both in the prevention and care of diseases.
After graduating in cell biology, biochemistry, chemistry and statistics from University of Jyväskylä in 1980, Juhani has more than 35 years of experience in IVD industry area. Before joining Spinverse in 2016, he held several positions in academia as well as in industry including a 27-year career at Orion Diagnostica.
Juhani has contribution to several scientific papers and 17 patents or patent applications as inventor. He is both Helsinki region board member of National Graduate School of Nanosciences and Member of the Advisory Board of Center for Functional Materials (FUNMAT) based at Åbo Akademi University. Juhani also acted as a member in the Working Group for Education in Advisory Board, Section for Scientific Metrology, Center for Metrology and Accreditation (VTT). He is a Knight of the Order of the White Rose of Finland. The Finnish Engineering Award 2009 (Nanoscience) was granted to Juhani on May, 28th 2009 and Finnish Chemical Industry Innovation Award 2010 as a member of OD’s research group on April 27h 2010.
For Juhani nature and especially a summer house in Central Finland are important places for relaxation and leisure activities, such as construction, forestry, hunting and fishing.
